Domaine Franco Chinois’s 2017 Reserve is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon (percentages undisclosed) and has a deep ruby appearance. On the nose, there is intense red and black plum, bramble, cassis, mulberry and savory herbaceous notes of sage and green bell pepper complemented by new oak notes of toast, smoke, clove and vanilla. With aeration, a tiny amount of leather reveals a touch of development. On the palate, the wine is very full-bodied, with abundant ripe, coating and fine-grained tannins, lifting acidity and well-integrated 14.5% alcohol. The ample structure is fleshed out neatly with marked primary flavors and nuanced oak. Under Zhao Desheng’s supervision, these wines continue to improve, and the 2017 does not disappoint. A really well-made blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Olives, anchovies, cigar, cocoa powder and blackberries. The tannins are really polished and refined, driving the fruit to a long, graceful finish. Linear and focused. Drink now or hold. [ 95/100分,2017年份]

Very impressive sweet fruit here with blackcurrants, dark plums and subtle layers of spices. There’s a minty accent, too. Very well defined on the palate with the juiciness and fleshiness from the fruit and taut, polished tannins that provide the framework. A blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon and some petit verdot. So balanced and drinkable now. [93/100分, 2015年份]
